Teaching to the Task Learning Objectives

The sixteen year old student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the correct usage of vehicle reference points for proper curb awareness/parking;

2. Adjust side mirrors and define blind spots as they relate to the mirrors;

3. Understand the safest hand position on the steering wheel and turn hand-over-hand;

4. Display collision-free turning and level vehicle balance when cornering;

5. Know vehicle reference points to determine lane position while driving;

6. Perform lane changing, highway merge, blind spot glance, and highway exit. Pro-City utilizes both limited and

unlimited access highways for practice;

7. Perform complete road test simulation for the student’s particular road test site: parallel park, K-turn, straight

reverse and smooth cornering with complete stops at stop signs;

8. Recite and understand the Pro-City defensive driving strategy S.A.M.S:

a) Scan Zones

b) Announce Intentions

c) Manage Vehicle Speed

d) Space Cushion Car
